About Us
History
AMC’s roots go back to the formation of the London Metal Exchange in the 19th Century.
Amalgamated Metal Corporation PLC itself was formed in 1929 through the
merger of the British Metal Corporation Ltd. (BMC) and Henry Gardner & Co. Ltd.
BMC had been created with the encouragement of the British government in the aftermath
of the first World War to provide security for strategic metal raw materials. Henry
Gardner was a long established LME ring-dealing company.
